Overview
Coffee Talk is a cosy visual novel set in a rainy Seattle where humans live alongside elves, orcs, werewolves, vampires, and other fantasy races. You play as a barista at the eponymous café, listening to customers’ stories and serving them drinks. The game spans 14 in-game days and features several intertwining storylines.
The platinum is very approachable. The only demanding section is Challenge Mode (
Roadmap
STEP 1 – First Playthrough
Play all 14 days, always serving customers the drinks they request. Open the Tomodachill app whenever a character’s profile updates, and listen to all songs in Shuffld (can be done on Day 1). Leave Latte Art mode running for an hour to get
STEP 2 – Partial replay/Chapter select
After the credits, Neil hints at hidden scenes. Replay Days 1, 3, 8, and 14 to see new dialogue. On Day 8, serve Neil the Milky Way (Milk + Honey + Mint), then finish Day 14. This earns
STEP 3 – Challenge Mode & Clean-up
Complete Challenge Mode to earn all three Barista trophies. Brew any missing special recipes in Free Brew mode for
Challenge Mode
How the mode works
Challenge Mode is accessed from the main menu via Endless. You start with 90 seconds, every correct drink you serve adds time; wrong drinks waste time but don’t penalise your count. You need 50 correct drinks in a single session for the
You can pause the game at any time and the timer stops completely. This is very helpful. Whenever a new customer walks in, pause immediately, read what they want without any pressure, cross-reference the recipe list if needed, and only unpause when you know what you’re making.
Difficulty phases
The mode ramps up gradually across roughly 50 customers. Understanding when each phase kicks in is half the battle.
Phase One
The customer names all three ingredients in the exact order they go into the cup: Base – Primary – Secondary. This is as simple as it gets, just put them in the order stated.
Phase Two
The customer still lists all three ingredients, but now the base comes last instead of first. The pattern is: Primary, Secondary, Base. So you need to mentally flip the order, put the last-mentioned ingredient in the base slot, then add the first two in the order given.
Phase Three
Sometimes the customer only names two ingredients instead of three. When this happens, any possible combination of these two will work.
Phase Four
Customers stop listing ingredients entirely and instead describe what they want by name or by taste. This is the hardest phase.
- By name: they say something like “I’ll have a Masala Chai.” Open the Brewpad and look up the recipe.
- By flavour profile: they describe taste attributes – warm, cool, sweet, bitter – each rated on a scale from 0 to 8, which the game expresses through language. The translation key:
| Bars 0 | Bars 1-3 | Bars 4-5 | Bars 6-8 |
| “Not [Trait]” | “Less [Trait]” | “[Trait]” | “Extra [Trait]” |
Multiple traits can be combined. For example “warm, extra sweet” means 4–5 bars warm and 6–8 bars sweet. You need to find a recipe that satisfies all stated conditions simultaneously. At this stage, having the full recipe list nearby and cross-referencing flavour profiles is essentially required. To help you navigate this phase, feel free to use a Recipe Finder tool.
The game can occasionally generate flavour-profile combinations that no recipe satisfies cleanly. When that happens, serve the closest approximation you have and move on, you lose a few seconds, but the counter is unaffected.
General tips for surviving to 50
- Pause on every order. There is no downside. The habit of pausing before you do anything is what separates a clean 50-drink run from a panicked failure at customer 42.
- Identify the base first, then slot the modifiers. This one mental habit covers Phases 1, 2, and 3 without needing to memorise the specific pattern names.
- Wrong orders don’t reset you. If an order is incomprehensible and you’re low on time, serve anything and move on. The missed order costs a few seconds; spending thirty seconds puzzling it out costs far more.
- Do Challenge Mode after finishing the story. Your Brewpad will be fuller, you’ll have seen most ingredient combinations already, and the flavour profiles will feel familiar. Going in cold is significantly harder.

Serve 50 correct drinks in a single session of challenge mode
You can access Challenge Mode, by entering Endless from the main menu. You start with 90 seconds at the timer and get time added after serving a customer with a correct drink. Likewise, for making a mistake time will be deducted.
First orders are very easy and answers are given you straight away, you just need to use ingredients in the order they are being listed. After the the will dial up a bit. Now, order of ingredients is flipped and customers put base ingredient at the end of their list. First and second items on the list are Primary and Secondary ingredients respectively. Third phase will reduce ingredients to two. Some say, any combination of the two will do, but I normally used drink as base and then doubled the flavour.
The last phase is the hardest one, since you are now tasked with figuring out a correct drink by its attributes – Warm, Cool, Sweet, Bitter. This is not an easy task and to help you navigate, use the following drink-by-descriptor cheat sheet:
| Bars 0 | Bars 1-3 | Bars 4-5 | Bars 6-8 |
| “Not [trailt]” | “Less [trailt]” | “[trailt]” | “Extra [trailt]” |
If you really struggling, you can you a Recipe Finder tool which will narrow down a possible list of drinks that will satisfy even the most picky customer.

God of Caffeine
Find the secret behind the barista
This trophy can only be unlocked after finishing the game once. After the credits, Neil returns and gives four cryptic hints.
Start a second playthrough or use Chapter Select. Watch for new hidden dialogue on Day 1 (“First, when Freya told me about her meeting in the elevator…”), Day 3 (“Then, it was the first time Rachel visited this place.”), Day 8 (“And the last one involved you on your second visit.”) and Day 14. On Day 8, during Neil’s second visit, serve him Milky Way, if you haven’t on your initial run.
Note: Some players report Chapter Select alone doesn’t trigger a hidden cutscene. A partial second playthrough is the safest approach.
Gala had a fit!
Serve Gala Had when Gala turns into a werewolf
On Day 11, Gala enters the café in werewolf Fury form. The Brewpad is locked and you must know the recipe from memory. Use following ingredients: Tea + Milk + Ginger.

Art takes time
Spent a total of 1 hour making Latte Art
This is the most time-consuming trophy in the game but it requires zero effort.

Best method to get it is to go to Free Mode, start Latte Art, put the controller down, and do something else for an hour. The trophy pops the next time you serve or exit the screen.
