Borderlands 4: New DLC’s Vault Hunter May Have Been Leaked

Borderlands 4‘s post-launch support is still rolling, and the community has already turned its sights on what comes next. A fresh datamine may have just revealed the name of the second DLC Vault Hunter, and the details are intriguing.

What the Datamine Found

Reddit user jakobsestate shared findings from a datamine of Borderlands 4’s subtitles and found what could be a reference to the next DLC Vault Hunter in unused dialogue. The name “Loveless” appears multiple times throughout the datamined subtitles, potentially suggesting that this is the name of the Vault Hunter coming in DLC 2.

The clues don’t stop there. In the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC, the character Mancubus can make several different remarks about the game’s Vault Hunters, including one line of dialogue that says, “it seems you’ve suffered an unbounded recursion, eh, mistress Loveless.” While this was initially believed to be directed at Borderlands 4’s Vex, these newly uncovered lines suggest that “Loveless” is a different character entirely.

Even more tellingly, the line “Yes! This is Loveless – We are a Vault Hunter” was found right alongside a variation of this same dialogue for the existing Vault Hunter Rafa, essentially placing Loveless in the same structural category as confirmed playable characters.

The community is already speculating wildly. Some users note the character’s use of the “we” pronoun when referring to themselves, suggesting it could be some kind of hivemind, with others theorizing that Loveless could even be an Eridian Vault Hunter. Another possibility is that Loveless is using the royal “we” to refer to themselves as a sort of status symbol, meaning they could be a more posh Vault Hunter like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel‘s Aurelia Hammerlock.

An Eridian Vault Hunter would be unprecedented in the series – a genuinely bold direction for Gearbox to take.

The Confirmed DLC Roadmap That Sets the Stage

This leak lands in a context where a second Story Pack is already officially confirmed. Players can already look on the horizon for Story Pack 2 later this year, including yet another brand-new Vault Hunter, multiple main missions and side missions set in a new zone of Kairos, new gear to earn, and a bunch of new cosmetics.

Both Story Packs are included in Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition and will also be available for individual purchase.

The first Story Pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, launched on March 26, 2026, and introduced C4SH, a former casino dealer bot who is now a drifter chasing the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts. The first Story Pack has garnered some criticism, with many fans unhappy with the price for what amounts to roughly 2–3 hours of content at the $30 price tag. Where it is praised is in its new Vault Hunter, C4SH, making future playable characters an exciting proposition for fans.

Until Gearbox pulls back the curtain officially, Loveless remains a compelling mystery. Given how well C4SH was received as a character concept, the bar for the follow-up is high.
