Crimson Desert Patch 1.05.00 Tackles Endgame Drought With Boss Rematches and Enemy Respawns

Pearl Abyss has released patch 1.05.00 for Crimson Desert, and it directly addresses one of the most persistent complaints since the game’s March launch: running out of things to do once the map is cleared. The update, which went live on May 1, introduces two new endgame systems – Rematch and Re-blockade – alongside a range of quality-of-life improvements, new pets, cosmetics, and graphical options.

Crimson Desert is already a feature-rich game, pushing players well beyond the 100-hour mark with a massive map to explore. However, one element that has gotten a lot of feedback is what to do in the endgame. Some players clearing out most of the map find that enemies stop spawning, making it overly difficult, if not impossible, to finish challenges, continue earning XP, and reach the full potential of the playable characters. Pearl Abyss acknowledged this issue last month and committed to addressing it, with 1.05.00 being the first major step in that direction.

Rematch: Fight the Bosses Again, Your Way

The headline addition is the Rematch system. By lighting your lantern at the site of a previous boss encounter, you can read the Memory Fragment to initiate a rematch. You can attempt a rematch with any of the three playable characters – Kliff, Oongka, or Damiane.

Players can choose whether to battle the boss as they were at the time of the original fight, or use the Resonate option, which scales the boss to the player’s current stats progression. Any consumables used during a rematch will be restored once the fight concludes, though no separate loot can be obtained from rematches in their current state. Pearl Abyss has noted this may change in future updates.

Re-blockade: Bring the Enemies Back

For players who have cleared out forts and high-density enemy zones, the Re-blockade system repopulates those areas, giving players more opportunities to continue fighting. Players can control the frequency of respawns through three settings: Stable (no respawning), Conflict (slower rate, and the default), and War (frequent reblockades). For now, this option applies to 23 forts and quarries, with Pearl Abyss planning to expand coverage in future patches.

The update is far more than just endgame fixes. Two new legendary pets have been added – the Iron Eagle and the Hyacinth Macaw – and the Mountain God Boar creature can now be encountered after meeting certain conditions. Puzzle hint visibility has been improved across the world, and new items and cosmetics, including new disguises, have been added to shops. Sharpness can now be adjusted from the graphics menu on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Hundreds of bug fixes and combat improvements are also included in the patch, among them fixes to boss evasion loops, guard damage reduction tweaks, and several skill-specific corrections.

Crimson Desert has sold millions of copies in just a few weeks since launch. Despite reviews being more mixed than many anticipated, Pearl Abyss has continued to improve the game post-launch at no extra cost to players, adding difficulty options, new character skills, and now meaningful endgame content. Patch 1.05.00 is available now across PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation, and Xbox.
