Project Judas Is Live: Scavenger Event Strips Everything Away

Red Barrels launched Season 6 of The Outlast Trials on March 24, 2026, and it brings one of the game’s most punishing twists yet. The update, titled Project Judas, centres on the return of the Kress Twins – Otto and Arora – who this time are pulling strings in a television studio, grooming a celebrity named Bob Vanier into their political puppet. Reagents must disrupt the live broadcast before the curtain drops.

The headlining addition is the new trial Silence the Idol, set entirely inside the Television Studio, a brand-new environment for the game. A fresh MK-Challenge called Solve the Murder also joins the rotation, alongside a new Deluxe Catalog with season-specific cosmetics.

“Enter the Trials with nothing. Salvage unstable, single-use Rigs from Reagent corpses. Collect discarded mechanical components and return them to the drop box.”

– Murkoff Corporation

The limited-time Scavenger event is where things get brutal. Players are stripped of all starting equipment: no Rigs, no Prescriptions, no Amps. Health is reduced and Night Vision battery starts at 25%. To survive, Reagents must scavenge one-time-use Rigs from fallen players and hunt down mechanical components for delivery objectives. It runs in two parts: Part 1 ran March 24 – April 7, and Part 2 is active now through April 21.

The update also delivers significant reworks to the X-Ray and Barricade Rigs based on community feedback. The X-Ray is now a toggleable ability with draining energy, can ping multiple enemies through walls, and emits an electromagnetic field that disables nearby traps. The Barricade now allows players to carry several at once, with instant refunds on removal and a cooldown that only kicks in once all are deployed.

Twitch Drops are running alongside Scavenger through April 21. The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox.
