Overview
Burning Walkers are a fire-mutated variant of the standard Walker found throughout Los Angeles. They are horrific human pyres, the Autophage within them feeds the flames through unknown metabolic processes that protect the walker itself. As a result, their bodies burn indefinitely without consuming themselves, and they are fully immune to fire damage. Much of their identifying features have been either melted or burnt away, with nearly all of their skin blackened and charred, and their clothes reduced to scraps of burnt material.
In terms of behaviour they are no different from ordinary Walkers. Slow, aimless, and wandering until a survivor comes within range. What makes them genuinely hazardous is their passive threat: their burning bodies will ignite anything flammable near them as they move, including survivors they manage to grapple onto. They are most commonly found near burning material and frequently appear alongside Burning Runners and more dangerous Apex variants such as Firestorm Slobbers and Inferno Crushers. Oil puddles and barrels in their vicinity are a serious environmental hazard, as a Burning Walker passing nearby can detonate them instantly.
Like all Walkers, their limbs can be severed easily. Water from Jerrycans, Chem Bombs, and the water tank of a Hydration Walker will extinguish their flames, stripping away their fire damage and making them straightforward to dispatch. Meat Bait and Bait Bomb Curveballs will distract them temporarily.
Where to Find Them
Their first Zompedia encounter can be found in Beverly Hills and they appear frequently in the Metro area near trainwrecks.
