Overview
The Grenadier Walker is a variant of the Walker commonly found around military compounds in Beverly Hills and Venice Beach. They are former military personnel, identifiable by their military uniform and a vest laden with explosives.
The explosive vest is the defining feature of this enemy and the primary source of danger they present. The vest is highly sensitive and will explode if damaged by direct hits, status effects, or environmental hazards. When struck, the grenades emit white smoke that quickly turns red before the entire vest detonates, leaving players only seconds to react. Outside of that, they behave like all Walkers – slow, aimless, and attempting to grab the player when they get too close.
Their limbs can be easily maimed and they can be distracted temporarily with Meat Bait. Firearms are the safest approach, keeping a safe distance while dealing damage. When kicked, a Grenadier Walker can be sent into a group of nearby zombies, making them an effective tool for clearing crowds or dealing heavy damage to Apex Variants. Grenadier Walkers also count toward the Hey, Catch! challenge, which rewards players for killing other zombies using their explosions.
Where to Find Them
The first encounter is on the second floor of the Halperin Hotel. Reliable farming spots include the beach at Venice Beach behind the military base, and the hilly path north-east of the fast travel building in Beverly Hills just south of the Slobber Hotspot.
